I found a couple rolls of film in my drawer so I dropped them off to get developed. It had been a while since I had taken them and I’d forgotten what was on them. The first two are from the Arizona Weddings publisher party last summer. The last frame is from a promotional shoot I did for The Center Bistro.

Lately, I’ve been tied to my computer, editing photos, researching projects, wrapping things up from this year and preparing for next year. Everyone that runs a small business knows that we can get so caught up in running the business, we can lose sight of why we started it in the first place. Then something comes along and whacks you over the head to remind you.
I haven’t been in my office much around sunset this summer. It’s been a combination of being pretty busy and that it gets very hot in there. A consequence of this is that I don’t see many sunsets. This day, back in June, I noticed the amazing sunset and ran upstairs with my camera.

My favorite North Carolina photographer and business partner Ray came to town to assist me with Jeremy + Nipa’s Wedding. While he was in town, we went up to South Mountain to go some location scouting. Ray was kind enough to stand in so I could take some test shots.

Just to let you know there’s a pretty steep drop off on the back side of that wall Ray’s on.
I went to pick up Arielle from work last week and while I was waiting it started to rain. I didn’t notice much, since I was answering emails on my phone while I was waiting. She comes down and asks, “did you see the rainbow?” Engrossed in running my business, I missed something beautiful right in front of me. It was a complete rainbow on the horizon. Arielle and I grabbed some photos from the the parking lot then we headed up the parking deck to get a better view.
That served as a nice reminder that no matter how caught up in running a business I get, I need to stop and look around. In my heart, I’m a photographer and I should never forget that.

I drove up to Sedona (again) for Amy and Joe’s engagement session. This was actually scheduled for the previous week but had to be rescheduled at the last minute. It worked out for the best, since the weather wasn’t as nice as it was when I met up with Amy and Joe for take two of their session.
Amy and Joe are a very fun couple and I can’t wait until October for their wedding.
